This was reported by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), citing the results of respiratory sample tests conducted from December 23 to 29. The main pathogens were the influenza virus, human metapneumovirus, and rhinovirus.
Metapneumovirus causes acute respiratory viral infections in humans. Children under 14 are mostly susceptible to the disease. In China, people living in the northern regions of the country are most often infected.
The CDC noted that China is currently experiencing a seasonal increase in diseases caused by influenza viruses, which is typical for the winter period. Doctors recommend washing your hands regularly, wearing masks in crowded places, avoiding contact with sick people, maintaining good ventilation in rooms, strengthening the immune system with a balanced diet and rest, and getting vaccinated.
