(sung to the Balled of Jed Clampett – Beverly Hillbillies)
Come and listen to my story about a man named Joe A cunning politician, kept the GOP on their toes, And then one day he was playing old and slow, And up through the ranks come a devious show.
Deception that is, clever moves, hidden plans.
Well, the first thing you know, the GOP’s ensnared, The party folks said, “Joe’s not going anywhere!” Said, “Our time is now, we’ll win without a care,” So they crowed and they gloated, thinking they were there.
Victory, that is. Easy wins, confident grins.
Old Joe played the part, forgetful and weak, The opposition mocked, their future looked bleak. But Joe kept on saying, “No way unless a divine act,” Then Joe had a bad debate, but continued his tact.
Feigning illness, that is. False clues, secret ruse.
MAGA folks laughed, thought they’d won the day, Ole Joe seemed done, their triumph on display. Then Joe got the COVID, and the game took a twist, A day later, on a quiet Sunday, he announced he’d desist.
Withdrawal, that is. Sudden shock, a change of course.
The GOP cheered, their strategy seemed bright, Until they realized they had Kamala in sight, Their playbook was wrong, the tables had turned, Ole Joe’s poker face had left them burned.
A new opponent, that is. Different game, unexpected fame.
Well now it’s time to say goodbye to Joe and all his plans, And they would like to thank you folks for playing into their hands. You’re all invited back next week to this locality, To see how the game unfolds with new vitality.
Politics, that is. Power plays, unexpected days.
Y’all stay tuned now, y’hear?
