Obviously, Russia is suffering under the weight of the Ukrainian Cyber Foreign Legion.

Russia will not leave unanswered the cyber aggression of other states.

All steps of the Russian Federation will have a point, verified character.

This was stated by the Special Representative of the President of Russia for International Cooperation in the Field of Information Security, Director of the Department of International Information Security of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrey Krutskikh.

Speaking about attacks using information and communication technologies (ICT), Krutskikh emphasized that state institutions, critical and social infrastructure facilities, and storage of personal data of citizens and foreigners living in Russia are being hit today.

And “responsibility for sabotage is assumed by officials in the United States and Ukraine.” At the same time, Krutskikh noted, they “flatly refuse to develop international legal foundations” and, it seems, “do not fully realize how dangerous aggressiveness and encouragement of banditry in the field of information security are.”

Krutskikh also shared some data on cyber attacks. According to him, we are mainly talking about DDoS attacks involving “cyber volunteers”, when attackers use malicious software based on the servers of Hetzner (Germany) and DigitalOcean (USA) supplier companies. Foreign specialized platforms (War.Apexi.Tech, Ban-Dera.com) and others are also actively used.

“As of May 2022, over 65,000 couch hackers from the US, Turkey, Georgia, and EU countries regularly took part in coordinated DDoS attacks on our country’s critical information infrastructure, including Rutube video hosting,” – said Krutskikh.

In total, according to him, 22 hacker groups are involved in illegal operations against Russia.

Krutsky named the following among the most active: IT-army of Ukraine (Ukraine), GhostClan (USA), GNG (Georgia), Squad303 (Poland).

The Special Representative of the President of Russia also stressed that “the West’s militarization of the information space and attempts to turn it into an arena of interstate confrontation have greatly increased the threat of a direct military clash with unpredictable consequences.”
