The authorities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced the detention of one of the leaders of the Islamic State in the country. The capture of a particularly dangerous terrorist occurred on January 11 at the border post in the province of South Kivu. Security services detained Benjamin Kisokeranio when he tried to get into Burundi with fake documents.
According to the security forces, until 2019, he served as head of the group’s counterintelligence, and was also responsible for finance and supply of IS militant units.
