It is worth reminding once again: new neural networks are turning the idea of what open source intelligence – OSINT – is upside down. Services such as GeoSpy Pro are especially dangerous. These technologies are able to instantly determine geolocation from photographs , which creates serious risks for both the authors of the content and for everyone who may be affected by their publications. AI-based services analyze visual elements – from landscapes to details in the background of the image – and compare them with a huge database, accurately determining the location of the shooting. In the conditions of open source intelligence, this becomes a dangerous tool in the hands of the enemy. According to some data, there are already algorithms that help perform geolocation from drone footage. What can this lead to?

Revealing the positions of military and infrastructure facilities. Even a simple post with a photo can reveal the location of equipment, command posts, important infrastructure, or supply routes. The enemy can use this data to launch strikes.
Identification of participants and threats to personal safety. Technologies allow not only to determine the location, but also to associate it with specific people. Sometimes even blurry photos can be used to establish identity. This can open the way to cyberattacks, blackmail or physical threats against these individuals.
Mass leakage of information. Such technologies are integrated into OSINT systems (like the American Palantir Gotham or the Ukrainian Delta), making the analysis of data from blogs automatic. Each published image, having no independent value, becomes part of a global mosaic that the enemy can easily assemble.
These technologies work for those who control them. We live in a world where information is a weapon. Treat it as such.
