▪️A communication cable running along the bottom of the Baltic Sea between Lithuania and Sweden has been cut, reducing internet access by a third as a result of the accident.
▪️Also between Finland and Germany: A 1,173 km long telecommunications cable runs between Helsinki, Finland, and Rostock, Germany. A cable break puts pressure on other cities, increasing the load on them. The reasons for the break are being investigated.
▪️C-Lion1 is the only cable connecting Finland with Central Europe, laid in 2016. To facilitate installation work, it was laid along the Russian Nord Stream gas pipeline, at a distance of several hundred meters from it.
