A question for those who still use printers.
Ever noticed that a color printer won’t print black and white text when it’s missing one of the colors?
Partly because the device puts a “secret” code on the paper — yellow specks that are almost invisible to the human eye.

This encrypts the serial number of the printer, as well as the date and time of printing.
Printer manufacturers were forced to mark papers with dots in order to catch counterfeiters.
You can see these specks under a microscope and decode them with the help of this guide or the Dotspotter service.
There is also an application that helps mask yellow spots on files for anonymity.
