Danish hosting companies CloudNordic and AzeroCloud faced a major threat when their systems were attacked by ransomware. As a result of the attack, a large part of customer data was lost, forcing companies to shut down all their systems, including their own websites, email, and customer resources.
Both hosting providers are owned by the same company. The attack took place on August 18, 2023. At the moment, the state of the systems remains unstable, and only some servers have been restored, and with data loss. CloudNordic has confirmed that many of their customers have lost all of their data.
The company said that it does not intend to pay ransom to attackers and has already turned to information security experts and the police. Customers are encouraged to restore their resources themselves using local backups or Wayback Machine archives.
During the attack, the attackers encrypted all server disks, including backups, and corrupted the data. However, CloudNordic claims that the data was not stolen or shared with third parties.
