The Chinese military showed a new supersonic combat unmanned aerial vehicle Wuzhen-8 at the air show in the city of Changdong.
The Wuzhen-8, also known as the WZ-8, is built for reconnaissance and destruction of various vehicles. The prototype is about the size of a small fighter plane and has a single fixed wing and retractable undercarriage. Behind are two jet engine nozzles.
According to the developers, the drone can reach speeds of over Mach 3 (about 3,700 km/h depending on altitude) and outrun most air defense missiles. If necessary, the drone can turn into a kamikaze missile to destroy fighters or ships.
The declared range of the aircraft is over 8,000 km. At the front of the hull, analysts noted two projections, probably for transporting the WZ-8 with the help of the H-6N strategic bomber.
