Roskomnadzor, the Russian thought police, decided to block access to the Facebook network in Russia. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the department.
According to Roskomnadzor, since October 2020, 26 cases of discrimination against Russian media and information resources by the social network have been recorded. In recent days, Facebook has restricted access to the accounts of the Zvezda TV channel, the RIA Novosti news agency, Sputnik, Russia Today, and the Lenta.ru and Gazeta.ru information resources. Facebook’s actions violate the law “On Measures to Influence Persons Involved in Violations of Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms, Rights and Freedoms of Citizens of the Russian Federation.”
