What are deterrence forces and what does nuclear weapons have to do with it?
The Strategic Deterrence Force is “the basis of the combat power of the Russian Armed Forces, designed to deter aggression against Russia and its allies, as well as to defeat the aggressor in a war using various types of weapons, including nuclear.”

Strategic Offensive Forces (SNA) and Strategic Defensive Forces (SOS).
