North Korean leader: Our security is guaranteed forever and war is meaningless
Referring to North Korea’s nuclear capability, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stressed that Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons guarantee its security.
According to North Korea’s official news agency, Kim spoke at the Veterans Conference on the 67th anniversary of the 1953 ceasefire that ended the Korean War.
“Because of the deterrence of North Korea’s effective and secure defense core, words like ‘war’ will not mean anything to us,” he said. Our future and national security will be firmly guaranteed forever.
North Korea’s nuclear program began in the early 1950s with Soviet cooperation, and in October 2006 North Korea conducted its first nuclear test.
Kim Jong-un took part in commemorative events marking the 67th anniversary of the signing of the armistice agreement in the Korean War, which is celebrated in the country as Victory Day. This was reported on Monday by the CTAC agency.
It is noted that the leader of the DPRK visited the cemetery of the combatants and laid flowers in memory of the victims. He noted that the feat of the soldiers is immortal, and their heroic fighting spirit will be forever remembered in the DPRK.
